Aston Villa Football Club is set to transform its home stadium, Villa Park, into a comprehensive shrine for its most famous fan, the late Ozzy Osbourne, hosting a multi-faceted tribute ahead of their Premier League season opener on Saturday. The event marks a poignant, full-circle moment for the “Prince of Darkness,” as the very stadium where he took his triumphant final bow last month will now host a final, public celebration of his life and his deep, lifelong connection to the club and the Aston community.

The tribute, scheduled for the match against Newcastle United on August 16, will see the entire gameday experience infused with honors for the Birmingham-born rock legend. Inside the stadium, a video tribute will be shown on the big screens following the player warmups. In what promises to be a powerful moment, the two teams will then walk out onto the pitch to the sound of Ozzy‘s live performance of “Crazy Train,” recorded in that very same venue during his final concert on July 5.

The celebration of his legacy will extend beyond the stadium walls. The club has commissioned a new mural dedicated to Osbourne on the external wall of the beloved Holte Pub. In the Fan Zone, Bostin’ Brass, the band that provided the moving soundtrack to Ozzy‘s public funeral procession, will return to perform a catalog of his and Black Sabbath‘s greatest hits.

In a special historical nod, the Fan Zone Bar—which was used as the exclusive artist backstage area for the “Back To The Beginning” concert—will have parts of its original branding and specially carved trees preserved, allowing fans to see and photograph a piece of the history from that unforgettable night. A book of condolences will also be open in the Villa Store for supporters to add messages, which will then be presented to the Osbourne family.

This comprehensive tribute follows Osbourne‘s passing on July 22 at the age of 76. The event at Villa Park is the perfect embodiment of the message that flashed on the screens after his final song: “Birmingham Forever.” It stands as a final, powerful statement from his beloved club and community, ensuring that their “son of Aston” is honored forever in the place he always called home.
