As I Lay Dying Release New Single ‘If I Fall’, Continuing Controversial Comeback

Metalcore veterans As I Lay Dying have officially released their second single featuring the band’s completely overhauled lineup. Titled “If I Fall,” the track premiered online late Tuesday, November 18, accompanied by a music video that debuted in conjunction with Napalm Records—a notable development for the band’s distribution moving forward.

The release of “If I Fall” arrives just one month after the band broke their silence with “Echoes,” the debut track for vocalist Tim Lambesis‘ reconstructed roster. Both songs mark the beginning of a new, albeit contentious, era for the group following a dramatic implosion late last year.

In late 2024, As I Lay Dying faced a “mass exodus” of members, leaving Lambesis as the sole remaining musician. The departure of the previous lineup was mired in public controversy, with former members citing “concerning behavior” and moral conflicts—some stemming from leaked home security footage—as the catalyst for their exit. Despite the allegations and the total collapse of the band’s personnel, Lambesis vowed to rebuild the group for a third time.

The resulting lineup, which is featured on both “If I Fall” and “Echoes,” includes a veteran cast of metal musicians. Backing Lambesis are drummer Tim Yeung (ex-Divine Heresy, Morbid Angel), bassist and clean vocalist Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within), and guitarists Bill Hudson (NorthTale) and Don Vedda. The writing and recording credits for this new material also list War Of Ages guitarist Jack Daniels as a key contributor to the studio sessions.

The new single drops immediately following the conclusion of the band’s major European headlining tour. The trek, which wrapped up this past weekend, saw the new lineup performing a setlist dedicated to the 20th anniversary of As I Lay Dying‘s landmark 2005 album, Shadows Are Security. With two singles now released in quick succession, it appears Lambesis is moving aggressively to re-establish the band’s presence in the metal scene ahead of a likely album announcement for 2026.
