Arch Enemy Hint At Reunion With Former Vocalist Angela Gossow

Are Arch Enemy preparing to welcome back their former iconic frontwoman, Angela Gossow?

The heavy metal community is buzzing with speculation that Swedish melodic death metal titans Arch Enemy are preparing to welcome back their former iconic frontwoman, Angela Gossow.

The rumors reached a fever pitch this week when both the official Arch Enemy Instagram account and Gossow‘s personal page simultaneously uploaded an identical, cryptic teaser. Adding to the mystery, both accounts completely blacked out their profile pictures—a coordinated social media strategy that usually points to a massive announcement.

This potential reunion comes just months after the band’s vocalist of over a decade, Alissa White-Gluz, announced her exit. On November 23, 2025, White-Gluz confirmed the split after fronting the group through a highly successful 12-year run.

“After 12 years in Arch Enemy, we have parted ways,” she stated at the time. “I am forever thankful to the thousands of amazing fans I have met along the way.”

If Gossow is indeed stepping back up to the microphone, it would be a poetic reversal of the band’s 2014 lineup change. When Gossow initially stepped down from vocal duties, she remained tightly woven into the Arch Enemy camp as their business manager, personally handpicking White-Gluz to take her place.

Explaining her departure in March 2014, Gossow shared:

“While I have enjoyed my time with the group, it is time for me to move on, be with my family and pursue other interests.”

She enthusiastically endorsed her successor, adding that she was:

“Passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine – and now she’s getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.”

While neither the band nor their management has officially confirmed her return as lead vocalist, fans have quickly pointed out that Gossow previously hinted she wasn’t entirely finished with performing. During a 2018 interview following the Will to Power touring cycle, she expressed a desire to return to music, specifically tying it to the conclusion of the band’s work with White-Gluz:

“Yes, I want to make a new extreme metal project, but this will happen after Arch Enemy and work with Alissa [White-Gluz] will be concluded and the whole world will sail in calmer waters. I suppose this will be in 2018, when we concluded the first series of tours and all the rest. I will do so when the time comes.”

Given her intimate knowledge of the band’s inner workings, her ongoing role as their manager, and her legendary status among the fanbase, a 2026 comeback for Gossow seems like the ultimate logical next step for Arch Enemy.
