Angela Gossow Considered Rejoining Arch Enemy, Explains How Lauren Hart Was Chosen As The New Singer

She confirmed that while she seriously entertained the idea of returning to the band, she ultimately decided against it.

After weeks of mystery and intense fan speculation, Arch Enemy officially ended the anticipation last Thursday (February 19) by announcing Lauren Hart (formerly of Once Human) as their new lead vocalist. She steps in to replace Alissa White-Gluz, who fronted the band from 2014 until her departure in November 2025.

During the transition period, heavy rumors circulated that Angela Gossow—who fronted the band from 2000 to 2013 and currently serves as their manager—might reclaim the microphone. A series of cryptic social media posts featuring the former singer only fueled the fire.

Taking to Instagram today, Sunday 22nd, Angela Gossow addressed what happened head-on. She confirmed that while she seriously entertained the idea of returning to the band, she ultimately decided against it for personal and professional reasons:

“Things happened in the Arch Enemy camp. I thought hard about rejoining the band. I looked at my life, my age, my still young children, my workload as the manager for Arch Enemy. And the answer was no. Both emotionally and also rationally.”

She also took the time to publicly support Alissa White-Gluz‘s decision to leave the band and pursue her long-awaited solo career:

“All the best to Alissa! She is gonna kill it with her solo album! Wanted to do it since 2016. She has got some great female talent at her side and will leave her mark in the world of metal for sure.”

With Angela officially ruling herself out, the search for a new vocalist began. In her post, Gossow revealed that she has been a long-time supporter of Lauren Hart and originally had a completely different project in mind for the talented singer:

“We have known each other personally since many years. Been following her journey with Once Human, was hoping for her breakthrough. Then I crossed my fingers for her joining another known metal band. Didn’t work out. She never gave up! Then I was looking into putting a new band together for her – thinking a cross over between Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy/In Flames and Machine Head/Once Human style. I asked her to send in various cover tracks to get a full picture on her vocal skills ( she crushed!) and started scouting for musicians fitting her talent.”

When the vocalist position in Arch Enemy suddenly became vacant, Angela realized that the perfect candidate was already right in front of her. She pitched the idea to the band, and the rest is history:

“I put Lauren forward to the guys. Michael connected. She recorded vocals in December 2025. She rose. Like a Phoenix to the sky. So intense. So glorious. She is Angela reincarnate. Exceeding my skills. Ready to last for decades. I am honoured and humbled to be working with her. Finally.”

Fans can already hear the new lineup in action. The band recently dropped their crushing new single, “To the Last Breath“, which founding guitarist Michael Amott has described as a “reckoning.”

He said: “Make no mistake — this song is a reckoning. Musically, it’s unapologetically aligned with my original vision for the band — and I believe longtime fans will recognize that immediately. Lyrically, it’s about seeing through deception and dismantling the illusion of control. It captures that moment when you realize you’ve been fed poison — and you choose to fight back. Once that clarity hits, there’s no retreat. It’s do or die.”

Amott concluded: “Just when you think it’s over, a new beginning rises. Now it’s time to rage with us — to the very last f**king breath!”
