Amon Amarth We Rule The Waves

Swedish melodic death metal leaders Amon Amarth have released their brand-new single, “We Rule The Waves,” accompanied by a striking official music video. The track, which premiered today, marks the band’s first new material since the critically acclaimed 2022 album The Great Heathen Army (Metal Blade Records).

The music video delivers the epic visual storytelling fans have come to expect from Amon Amarth, featuring sweeping cinematic sequences of raging seas, Viking longships, and the band’s commanding performance. Its imagery reflects the lyrical themes of maritime conquest, unity, and strength, underscoring the band’s reputation as masters of dramatic, myth-inspired heavy metal.

While no formal announcement has been made regarding a new studio album, frontman Johan Hegg previously hinted at new material in development during an August 2024 interview with Rock Antenne: “To be honest, we’ve been starting to talk about a new album, but we haven’t started working on it yet. I’ve been working on some lyrical ideas. I know the guys have some musical ideas, but it’s really in its infancy.”

Fans will have the opportunity to experience “We Rule The Waves” live this summer as Amon Amarth joins Pantera on their highly anticipated U.S. amphitheater tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour launched July 15 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, and will visit more than two dozen cities before concluding on September 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Select shows will feature additional support from King Parrot, Snafu, Shock Narcotic, and Flesh Hoarder.

The Great Heathen Army, released in 2022, saw Amon Amarth reunite with renowned producer Andy Sneap and further cemented their position as one of extreme metal’s most formidable forces. With “We Rule The Waves,” the band continues its tradition of delivering powerful, narrative-driven music that resonates with fans worldwide.
