Swedish melodic death metal giants Amon Amarth are set to unleash new music this week, with their latest single and music video, “We Rule The Waves,” scheduled for release on Wednesday, July 16. Fans can get a first look at the official trailer for the track tomorrow, Tuesday, July 15, by visiting WeRuleTheWaves.com.
This new single arrives as Amon Amarth prepares to embark on a major summer 2025 U.S. amphitheater tour alongside Pantera. Produced by Live Nation, the extensive journey kicks off on Tuesday, July 15, in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, marking the start of a busy period for the band. The tour will visit over two dozen cities, concluding on September 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Supporting acts on select dates will include King Parrot, Snafu, Shock Narcotic, and Flesh Hoarder.
While the new single is on the horizon, the band’s next full-length album remains in its early stages.
Last August, Amon Amarth frontman Johan Hegg was asked by Germany’s Rock Antenne about the follow-up to their 2022 LP, The Great Heathen Army. He responded: “To be honest, we’ve been starting to talk about a new album, but we haven’t started working on it yet. So we don’t really know. That’s the simple answer.”
Hegg further elaborated on the nascent creative process, adding: “I’ve been working on some lyrical ideas. I know the [other] guys have some musical ideas, but we haven’t started putting anything together yet. So it’s just really in its infancy. So there’s really nothing to say.”
