In a union of theatrical heavy metal might, Swedish Viking overlords Amon Amarth and the world’s most successful animated death metal band, Dethklok, have announced a colossal co-headlining tour across North America. Dubbed “The Amonklok Conquest,” the tour is set to raid the continent in the spring of 2026, bringing a night of immersive spectacle and crushing riffs to arenas and theaters from coast to coast.
The tour, produced by Live Nation, will kick off on April 15 at the Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix and conclude with a cinematic finale in Las Vegas on May 21. Joining the two titans as special support will be the fantasy-doom outfit Castle Rat, ensuring a lineup dedicated to the “pure theater” of heavy music.
For Dethklok, the tour marks a significant milestone: the 20th anniversary of Metalocalypse, the Adult Swim series that birthed the band. To celebrate two decades of brutality, series creator and musician Brendon Small has reassembled his elite live lineup, featuring legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Testament), bassist Pete Griffin (Zakk Wylde), and guitarist Nili Brosh (Danny Elfman).
“We are celebrating our 20th anniversary,” Small stated in the announcement. “And what better way to do it, with Amon Amarth and Castle Rat, who embody theatrical heavy metal. We’re going to entertain you as hard as we possibly can with the power of heavy metal in many kinds of ways, and many different iterations — from Viking battleships to Castle Rat to Dethklok with our music and fast-paced, insane animation.”
Small emphasized that the show will balance the band’s trademark brutality with the humor that defines the Metalocalypse universe.
“We challenge ourselves to get in as much material without wearing out our welcome,” he explained. “We also get to be funny.”
Amon Amarth enters the “Conquest” fresh off a dominant year that saw them support Slayer in the U.K. and Pantera in the U.S. The band has promised an “all new theatrical stage production” for this run, fitting for a group renowned for bringing Viking longships and battles to the stage. They issued a stern warning to fans preparing for the upcoming dates.
“Three bands. One night. The strong will scream. The weak will fall,” Amon Amarth declared. “Limbs will be lost. We will crush skulls beneath our boots and tear the halls down stone by stone. This is not a concert. It is a reckoning. If you survive… perhaps the gods have other plans for you.”
The tour announcement coincides with news that Amon Amarth is preparing to release a brand new studio album in late 2026. Fans have already been given a taste of the new material with the recent release of the single “We Rule The Waves,” the band’s first new song in years.
Opening the festivities each night will be Castle Rat, led by The Rat Queen, who framed the tour in suitably mythical terms.
“On the heels of the Vernal Equinox, our adjacent universes shall align as we bring The Realm of Castle Rat into battle alongside venerable vikings, Amon Amarth, and Metalocalypse metal-masters, Dethklok!” the Rat Queen proclaimed.
Artist presales for “The Amonklok Conquest” begin today, Tuesday, December 9, at 12:00 PM ET. Citi cardmembers also have access to presale tickets starting today at 11:00 AM ET. The general public on-sale is scheduled for Friday, December 12, at 10:00 AM local time.
