Blue Medusa, the new musical project fronted by former Arch Enemy and The Agonist vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, has issued its third single, “Crocodile.“. The track arrives alongside an official music video co-directed by White-Gluz and Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films.
Moving away from the promotional language of the original press release, the song conceptually deals with unseen threats and creeping paranoia. Discussing the foundation of the track, Alissa White-Gluz offered the following statement:
“‘Crocodile.’ is about that feeling that you’re being watched… that instinctive dread when you know something dangerous is nearby, even though you can’t see it. It’s the feeling that something is lurking just beneath the surface of what appears to be safe or familiar. That tension between what you perceive and what you sense; that is where the song lives.”
The visual features the first full-band performance from Blue Medusa and includes guest vocal and visual contributions from Beatriz Mariano of Okkultist. During the video, White-Gluz plays a custom Nik Huber guitar created as a three-way collaboration between the band, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, and the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd. Equipped with Doyle‘s signature Von Frankenstein Monster Gear pickups and strings, the dual-autographed instrument will eventually be auctioned to fund Sea Shepherd’s global operations.
The studio lineup for Blue Medusa features guitarists Alyssa Day (Mindscar, Absentia) and Dani Sophia (ex-Till Lindemann). For live performances, the group recruits bassist Alicia Vigil (DragonForce, Vigil Of War) and drummer Delaney Jaster (Stitched Up Heart).
The single release coincides with White-Gluz‘s busy schedule since her departure from Arch Enemy. Later today (September 4), she is scheduled to host a live broadcast in Berlin for the “Corrupted Blood Twitch” channel. Throughout the year, she made numerous guest appearances across the European and North American festival circuits. Highlights included performing the official festival anthem “Our Kingdom” alongside composer Bear McCreary at Wacken Open Air, fronting DragonForce at Sonic Temple and Welcome To Rockville, and executing surprise acoustic sets and guest vocals with Savage Lands, Sepultura (performing “Kaiowas“), and Ice Nine Kills. This fall, she will rejoin DragonForce to handle lead vocals on their North American “Inhumane Rampage” anniversary tour.
White-Gluz concluded her 11-year tenure with Arch Enemy in late 2025. After replacing original vocalist Angela Gossow in 2014, she recorded four studio albums with the melodic death metal veterans: War Eternal (2014), Will To Power (2017), Deceivers (2022), and Blood Dynasty (2025). Her final concert with the band took place on November 15, 2025, in Düsseldorf, Germany, marking the end of the European “Blood Dynasty” tour alongside Amorphis, Eluveitie, and Gatecreeper.
