Alice In Chains has unfortunately been forced to cancel all of their remaining performances scheduled for May 2025 due to an ongoing medical emergency concerning drummer Sean Kinney. The band announced that Kinney‘s situation, which initially led to the cancellation of their May 8th show, now requires further attention, making it necessary to call off the upcoming dates.
This difficult decision follows the abrupt cancellation of their planned tour kickoff on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. That initial cancellation occurred after Kinney experienced what was then described as a “non-life-threatening medical emergency” following soundcheck.
In a new statement released today, May 9, 2025, Alice In Chains elaborated on the current circumstances:
“After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows,” the band wrote. “While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time.”
The initial statement regarding the May 8th Uncasville show had stated: “After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
The following May 2025 performances have now been cancelled:
- May 10 – Camden, NJ @ MMRBQ 2025
- May 11 – Columbus, OH @ Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival 2025
- May 13 – Nashville, TN @ The Pinnacle
- May 15 – Dothan, AL @ Dothan Civic Center Arena
- May 16 – Daytona Beach, FL @ Welcome to Rockville 2025
- May 17 – Ocean City, MD @ Boardwalk Rock 2025
Alice In Chains is also scheduled to perform at the final Black Sabbath show in Birmingham, UK, on July 5, 2025. The band has not yet made an official statement regarding the status of this July appearance in light of Kinney‘s current health situation.
Fans are sending their best wishes to Sean Kinney for a full and speedy recovery.
