Legendary rockers AC/DC launched their first Australian tour in a decade with an explosive surprise, performing the Bon Scott-era classic “Jailbreak” for the first time in over 34 years. The historic moment took place tonight (November 12) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of a massive crowd of 80,000 fans.
The 1976 track, famously written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott, had not been included in the band’s live set since 1991. “Jailbreak” was originally released on the Australian version of their album Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and was not officially available in North America until 1984.
The Melbourne show was the first of a five-date stadium run across the country, which is being produced by TEG. The tour will now head to Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth, before wrapping up in Brisbane on December 14. Support for the entire tour is being provided by Amyl And The Sniffers, with a different local band opening each show: The Casanovas in Melbourne, Large Mirage in Sydney, Oscar The Wild in Adelaide, The Southern River Band in Perth, and Headsend in Brisbane.
The 21-song setlist was packed with hits from the band’s entire career (via Setlist.fm):
