AC/DC are back on U.S. soil. The rock institution kicked off the North American leg of its “Power Up” tour on Saturday night (July 11), tearing through a career-spanning 21-song set at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, with fan-shot footage from the night already circulating online.
The band came out swinging, opening with “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” before barreling through a run of stone-cold classics. Fans got the full arsenal — “Back In Black“, “Thunderstruck“, “Highway To Hell“, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap“, “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “T.N.T.” — before the night wrapped in the band’s time-honored fashion with “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)“. Back In Black was the most-represented album of the evening, supplying five songs to the setlist.
The catalog did most of the heavy lifting, but the group also carved out room for its latest studio album, 2020’s Power Up, dropping “Demon Fire” and “Shot In The Dark” early in the show. The night carried a quiet bit of poignancy, too, landing just two days after what would have been the 80th birthday of late original singer Bon Scott, whose era was represented by cuts like “Sin City“, “Jailbreak” and “Riff Raff“.
Charlotte marked the first of 18 North American stadium dates this summer. From here, AC/DC roll on to cities including Columbus, Madison, San Antonio, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Edmonton, Vancouver, Atlanta, Houston, South Bend, St. Louis, Montreal, Toronto, East Rutherford and Philadelphia, with New York hard rockers The Pretty Reckless, fronted by Taylor Momsen, opening every date, as they did on the tour’s earlier legs.
This run is the second North American stretch of the “Power Up” trek, which visited more than a dozen cities across the U.S. and Canada in spring 2025. It may also be the last: back in June, AC/DC teased the shows with the words “powering up for the last time,” hinting this could be the final leg of a tour that’s been rolling since 2024, with the current schedule set to conclude September 29 in Philadelphia. Lead guitarist Angus Young and vocalist Brian Johnson are once again joined by rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Laug — the same lineup that powered the 2025 dates.
