AC/DC Faces Fan Outrage In South America Over Ticket Prices

Following an extended hiatus from the region, legendary rock band AC/DC is kicking off the South American leg of their highly anticipated “Power Up Tour” on February 24, 2026, in São Paulo, Brazil. The show at the iconic Cícero Pompeu de Toledo Stadium (Morumbi) marks their first performance in the country since 2009. However, the excitement of their return has been tempered by significant backlash from local fans over the cost of admission.

Tickets, which went on sale on November 5 via Ticketmaster Brazil, are priced between $85 (R$425) for the cheapest sections and $320 (R$1,590) for the most expensive seats. This pricing structure has prompted a wave of frustration across social media platforms, with many followers of Ticketmaster Brazil’s Instagram expressing their shock and anger.

Fans highlighted the “absurd” nature of the prices, even for a legacy band of AC/DC’s stature. One commenter wrote (as reported by Whiplash): “What madness is this for the AC/DC show? Seriously, these absurd prices are out of the question. Even for an AC/DC show, this has gone beyond all limits. It’s been way over the top for a long time!”

The criticism was not limited to the base ticket cost, but also extended to how seating areas were priced and the inclusion of service fees. A separate fan voiced their disapproval of the pricing uniformity for general admission areas: “They’re charging premium prices for the general admission area. They should have split the seating vertically or charged less for those watching from the back, not including fees. What a rip-off.”

Other messages conveyed sheer disbelief and frustration, with some questioning the logistics and value proposition of the tickets. One user exclaimed: “I almost fell over when I saw the AC/DC prices,” while another focused on the extra costs, demanding: “Remove the ticket fees for AC/DC concerts, they’re completely useless.” A fan also questioned the sectors with a frustrated query: “AEB runway, same price??? Seriously?”

The Brazilian date is the first stop on a short South American run before the band—featuring Angus Young (lead guitar), Brian Johnson (vocals), Stevie Young (rhythm guitar), Chris Chaney (bass), and Matt Laug (drums)—heads to Australia, followed by a 17-date North American leg starting in July. Despite the global excitement for the tour, the São Paulo concert is currently grappling with a vocal contingent of fans feeling priced out of the long-awaited return of the rock legends.
