High Parasite have put out a standalone single, “The Screams That Come“, through Spinefarm, with a visualizer alongside it.
The track was produced by Gregor Mackintosh of Paradise Lost and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory, whose credits include Meshuggah and Katatonia.
The band, led by Aaron Stainthorpe, has settled on its own label for what it does.
“We’ve coined the term ‘death pop’ to define our music; we definitely have a strong affinity with all things gothic and dark, but at the same time we’re collectively drawn to strong hooks and melodies, to choruses that stick in the mind. I guess we walk a shadowy, sometimes twisted path between those two worlds; you can hear it on ‘The Screams That Come‘ and even more on the second album. It’s like the vampire’s smile: seemingly welcoming, at least at a distance, but boy, those teeth are razor sharp!” Stainthorpe said.
The single is timed to the band’s mainstage slot at London Metalfest 2026, where they play the Electric Ballroom in Camden on a bill topped by Swedish doom band Candlemass. They will also be at Raven Records in Camden, a short walk from the venue, for a signing at 7:30 p.m.
A Halloween headline show at the Albany Arcade in Halifax on October 31 has also been confirmed, and is likely to be their last live appearance of the year.
High Parasite released their debut album, Forever We Burn, in September 2024, and have spent most of the time since on the road in the UK and Europe. They have guested on tours with Cradle Of Filth and Paradise Lost, played Bloodstock, Rockstadt, Brutal Assault, Eindhoven Metal Meeting and Furiosfest among others, and headlined their own dates.
A second album has been worked on between tours and is due early in 2027.
The lineup is Stainthorpe on vocals, Danny “Tombs” Lambert on bass, Sam Hill on rhythm guitar, Jonny Hunter on lead guitar and Dan Brown on drums.
My Dying Bride parted ways with Stainthorpe in October 2025, ending a three-decade association. The split came less than a year after the band brought in Mikko Kotamäki of Swallow The Sun to front their live shows through 2025.
Their statement at the time:
“My Dying Bride have decided to part ways with vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe.”
“Please understand that this decision does not come lightly, hence our initial and painful silence while we gathered our thoughts and carefully considered our response to the disengaged, eerily abandoned state we suddenly found ourselves in.”
“Our collective decision to move forward without him is not something we thought we would ever be forced to say, but to ensure a continued legacy for what we hold dear to our hearts, we simply have to move past this. Whilst change can be difficult, we are doing our best to bring this new chapter forward with powerful positivity.”
“My Dying Bride are not on hiatus, we were never on hiatus.”
“However, we do genuinely wish Aaron all the luck in the world in his new solo endeavours.”
My Dying Bride‘s most recent album, A Mortal Binding, came out in April 2024 through Nuclear Blast.
Stainthorpe has since started Towards The Sinister with three former My Dying Bride bandmates, founding guitarist Calvin Robertshaw, original bassist Ade Jackson and founding drummer Rick Miah, plus second guitarist Chris Revett, keyboard player Mark Deeks and violinist Emma Allington.
That project exists to play the band’s early material, drawing on As The Flower Withers, Turn Loose The Swans, The Angel And The Dark River and Like Gods Of The Sun, the four albums that did much to define death-doom.
