A Perfect Circle has officially released “Starless“, a brand-new single written by Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan. The track’s arrival signals a new chapter for the band, debuting just days before they launch their first European tour in eight years.

Musically, the song shifts between muscular, guitar-driven intensity and delicate, intricate passages, maintaining the precision that has defined the group’s established sound.

Frontman Maynard James Keenan shared his enthusiasm for performing the new material during the upcoming tour, offering the following statement:

“Absolutely chuffed to debut this new track on stage in the U.K. Of course I’m excited to release the recordings but our songs always take on an expanded personality once we start playing them live.”

Starless” was written earlier this year and recorded at Billy Howerdel‘s Lankershim Ranch Studio in Studio City, California. The track was produced by Howerdel, mixed by Matty Green (known for his work with U2, Florence + The Machine, and TV On The Radio), and features longtime collaborator Josh Freese on drums.

Discussing the songwriting process for the new single, Billy Howerdel explained:

“Some songs get kicked around and massaged for years. But once in a while, one takes shape quickly, as if it had been there all along.”

A limited-edition seven-inch vinyl single is currently available via Revolver, featuring a custom etching of the band’s crescent logo on the B-side and a custom seven-inch adapter.

Following their summer European tour, A Perfect Circle will embark on an international run beginning in November, sharing the bill with Puscifer. The tour features varying support from Jehnny Beth, Reclus.É, and A.A. Williams.
