Coinciding with their two highly anticipated “M72” world tour concerts at Lincoln Financial Field this weekend, Metallica has opened an exclusive pop-up shop for fans in Philadelphia. The store, located at the corner of West Shunk Street and South 23rd Street, opened its doors on Thursday, May 22, and will remain operational until Sunday, May 25, at 6:00 p.m. Video of the pop-up shop can be found below (credits to The Squirrel).
Attendees and local fans visiting the pop-up can find a range of unique merchandise. Highlights include its own splatter vinyl edition of Metallica‘s latest album, “72 Seasons,” a completely exclusive screen-printed poster for the Philadelphia shows, a special event tee, and skateboards designed by various artists. Premium items, such as the newest Dixxon Flannel Co. collaboration, are also available alongside a full selection of new and classic Metallica merchandise and branded Yeti products.
The pop-up shop is part of a larger Metallica “takeover” in Philadelphia this week, which includes various themed activities leading up to their “No Repeat Weekend” performances. The first show takes place tonight, May 23, with support from Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills, followed by the second show on Sunday, May 25, featuring Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies as opening acts.
The ongoing “M72” world tour is noted for its unique in-the-round stage production and the band’s commitment to giving back, with a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold benefiting local charities via their All Within My Hands foundation.
