Waylon Reavis‘ band have covered The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” ahead of their album Victim 3 on MNRK Heavy.
A Killer’s Confession have released a cover of The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights“, pared back from the band’s usual weight and built around the melody and Waylon Reavis‘s vocal. The release came paired with the unveiling of Reavis‘ new mask for the band’s forthcoming album.
Reavis said the response to their last cover prompted this one, and that he deliberately went outside the band’s territory.
“I enjoyed doing ‘Heart-Shaped Box‘ so much and it was so well received I felt like maybe I should do another,” he said. “This time I wanted to do something in a different genre and go a completely different route. I always enjoy the song ‘Blinding Lights‘; [there’s] just something catchy and haunting about it. I feel like it could be the perfect song to be stuck in our character’s head for the last time ever as we end this trilogy.”
The trilogy he refers to runs across Victim 1, released in 2024, Victim 2 in 2025 and Victim 3, due this autumn through MNRK Heavy. It will be the band’s sixth studio album.
“Blinding Lights” went out as a single in November 2019 and appeared on After Hours the following March. It is certified diamond in the United States, was named the biggest Hot 100 song of all time by Billboard in 2021, and remains the most-streamed song in Spotify’s history. The band’s Nirvana cover, “Heart-Shaped Box“, appeared on Victim 2, and its video has approached a million views on YouTube. They also recorded a version of Sepultura‘s “Roots Bloody Roots“.
A headline run follows in November. The “Everything Comes Full Circle Tour” was announced in June, with Dizasterpiece and Dead Things added as support in July. It opens on November 4 in Raleigh and finishes on December 5 in Lakewood, Ohio.

Reavis started the band in 2016, a year after leaving Mushroomhead, where he had sung since 2004 across Savior Sorrow, Beautiful Stories For Ugly Children and The Righteous & The Butterfly. The first A Killer’s Confession single arrived on Halloween that year with Brian “Head” Welch of Korn guesting, released through David Ellefson‘s EMP Label Group ahead of the 2017 debut Unbroken. Since then Reavis has recorded with Chad Gray of Mudvayne, Aaron Nordstrom of Gemini Syndrome and his former Mushroomhead bandmate JMANN, and the band have built up tens of millions of streams behind tracks including “Numb” and “Angel On The Outside“.
