Fans seeking an insider’s look into the life on the road with KISS legend Ace Frehley are in for a treat, as John Ostronomy, co-host of “Talking Metal” and co-author of Frehley‘s “No Regrets” autobiography, has launched a new web series titled “On The Road.” Its first 30-minute compilation episode, “Ostronomy ‘On The Road’ Tour Video Diary (Ace Frehley Tour 2025),” is now available on his Ostronomy TV YouTube channel, offering a unique glimpse behind the scenes of Frehley‘s recent tour.
The video diary provides viewers with an exclusive perspective as Ostronomy himself, serving as part of the tour’s management, navigates the complexities and humor of life on tour. The episode mixes candid interview segments with Ace Frehley‘s band and crew members, including guitarist Jeremy Asbrock, bassist Ryan Spencer Cook, and drummer Scot Coogan. It also features dynamic live performance footage and appearances by special musical guests like Lips from Anvil, Neal Shelton of Aeromyth, and Ron Keel from Keel (Steeler, The Ron Keel Band). A standout moment sees Ron Keel joining the Ace Frehley band for a powerful soundcheck rendition of the KISS classic, “Deuce.” Beyond the music, the video light-heartedly highlights the logistics of tour travel and hospitality, often seen through Ostronomy’s own well-known passion for food and cooking, a theme that hints at his upcoming television project, “Cooking Metal.” The full episode can be watched down below. for free
In related news, Ace Frehley recently confirmed his next studio endeavor. Speaking on the February 27, 2025 episode of SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” Frehley revealed he is actively working on Origins Vol. 3. This album will serve as the latest installment in his series of cover songs, paying homage to the tracks that have influenced him throughout his career. Frehley announced a return to a familiar creative partnership for this project, stating, “I decided to reconnect with my old producer Alex Salzman. So, it won’t be me and Steve Brown,” referencing the Trixter guitarist/vocalist who produced Frehley’s latest solo album, 2024’s 10,000 Volts. Frehley added that he and Salzman “have a formula that we came up with and it seemed to work” for the previous Origins volumes.
The earlier albums in the series, Origins Vol. 1 (released April 2016) and Origins Vol. 2 (released September 2020), proved popular with fans and critics alike. Origins Vol. 1 notably debuted at No. 23 on The Billboard 200. These collections featured Frehley‘s interpretations of tracks by iconic bands such as The Beatles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, alongside KISS covers like “She.” Both albums also boasted a roster of notable guest musicians, with appearances from KISS frontman Paul Stanley, Slash, Lita Ford, John 5, Mike McCready, Cheap Trick‘s Robin Zander, and former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.
