Brad Arnold, frontman of the multi-platinum rock band 3 Doors Down, has announced that he is battling stage 4 kidney cancer.
In an emotional video message shared earlier today (Wednesday, May 7), the 46-year-old vocalist revealed that he has been diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer that has spread to his lung.
“I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out,” Arnold explained. “I actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And it’s stage four, and that’s not real good.”
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Arnold expressed unwavering faith and positivity. “But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.”
As a result of his condition, 3 Doors Down will be canceling their planned summer tour. Arnold addressed fans directly, asking for their support during this difficult time. “We’re sorry for that. And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get. And I think it is time for me to maybe go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit.”
He ended his message with a heartfelt thank-you: “Thank you, guys, so much. God loves you. We love you. See you.”
Formed in 1996 in Mississippi, 3 Doors Down became a major force in mainstream rock with their breakout hit “Kryptonite.” Over the years, the band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, earning a loyal fanbase with hits like “When I’m Gone,” “Here Without You,” and “It’s Not My Time.”
At Metal Stop, we send our best wishes to Brad Arnold for a full recovery.
